The Write Site Announces the Winners of the 10th Anniversary Essay Contest

Undergraduate Catagory

The Write Site and FHSS is pleased to announce that Barbara Lehtiniemi and Christine Hofmeier are the first and second place winners in the Write Site 10th Anniversary Essay Contest, Undergraduate category. For her winning entry entitled “Caring for an Aging Parent”, Barbara will receive a free AU undergraduate course of her choice and a certificate of award. As first runner up, Christine will receive a certificate of award for her essay entitled “An Introvert Starts the Day.” Both Barbara and Christine will also have their winning essays posted on the Write Site.

The achievement of these two students is particularly noteworthy because they were competing against 35 other excellent submissions from a variety of disciplines at AU. From the Write Site coaches and FHSS faculty, congratulations to you both!

Graduate Category

The Write Site and FHSS is pleased to announce that Heather Setka and M. Jane Ritchey are the first and second place winners in the Write Site 10th Anniversary Essay Contest, Graduate category.  Heather will receive a free AU graduate course of her choice and a certificate of award for her very engaging analysis of Caroline Knapp’s feminist writing entitled, “How to Drink (and Write) Like a Woman.”  As first runner up, Jane will receive a certificate of award for her comparison of two qualitative research methods entitled, “Qualitative Research: An Overview”. Both Heather and Jane will also have their winning essays posted on the Write Site.

The achievement of these two students is particularly noteworthy because they were competing against 27 other excellent submissions from a variety of graduate programs at AU. From the Write Site coaches and FHSS faculty, congratulations to you both!
